Queen knights 100-year-old veteran Captain Tom Moore for coronavirus fundraising

Queen Elizabeth II knighted Captain Tom Moore recognizing him for raising over $40 million for health workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 100-year-old World War Two veteran raised a record sum of $41 million for UK's National Health Service by walking 100 laps of his garden with the aid of a walking frame in April.

In a unique ceremony on Friday, the queen knighted Moore with her father's sword, and praised him for his fundraising efforts, international media reported. "Thank you so much, an amazing amount of money you raised," she said.
