Despite assurances from K-Electric, the issue of power outage and load shedding could not be resolved in the metropolis.

The duration of load shedding in the city has increased from 7 to 10 hours due to which the citizens are facing difficulties in the ongoing hot weather. The power outage in Karachi is rampant, while KE is reluctant to name the areas affected by the power outage and is anxious to discuss future plans.

As per details, areas including Liaquatabad C-1 Area, North Karachi, Malir, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, New Karachi, Lyari, Agra Taj Colony, Bihar Colony, various blocks of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Federal B Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Dalmia, Gulshan-e-Jamal, Abul Hassan faced prolonged power outages.

Areas including Isfahani Road, Lasbela, Gulbahar, Gurumunder, Nazimabad, Saddar, Garden, Soldier Bazaar, Kharadar, Jahangir Road, Clifton and Martin Quarters also suffered from load shedding.

Last week, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) KE, Moonis Alvi has said that the ongoing electricity crisis in Karachi, will ease down in 48 hours.

Talking to media CEO KE Alvi said that the authorities have assured him that KE will be provided furnace oil from some Independent Power Producers (IPP) and the situation will normalize. “From the start of June, we were facing issues regarding the supply of furnace oil, and there were many reasons to it, as we can see there is a shortage of petroleum in the country, as the production of oil refineries declined due to coronavirus pandemic,” he said.
