Climate change pose serious threat to Pakistan: PM announces establishment of 15 national parks

As part of the government's effort to protect the nature, Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the establishment of 15 national parks in all the federating units.

Launching the ‘Protected Area Initiative’ in Islamabad, the PM said this initiative will create employment opportunities for people across all provinces. He further said not only this will provide environmental benefits, but will also contribute to the country's economy in this time of pandemic.

The premier said guidelines will be given to the provinces to preserve these national parks. He added that climate change pose serious threat to Pakistan and for this the government launched ten billion tree tsunami program.

He said the Protected Area Initiative will also help in this endeavor.
