ISLAMABAD: Agha Iftikhar-ud-Din Mirza, who hurled threats at Justice Qazi Faez Isa and the judges of the superior judiciary, in a video clip, on Tuesday submitted an unconditional apology before the apex court.

Agha Iftikhar-ud-Din, in a video clip, had levelled derogatory, contemptuous, and scandalous language against the judiciary.

In a one-page written apology, Iftikhar-ud-Din stated that in a private meeting during conversation unintentionally, he uttered some words against the judiciary and the judges.

He stated he had lots of regrets, and feels sorry for those words and surrendered himself at the mercy of the Supreme Court.

He stated that neither the conversation was recorded nor made viral on social media with his consent or knowledge.

The Supreme Court on June 26 had issued him a notice in a suo motu case, which the Chief Justice, Gulzar Ahmed, had taken on a video clip that went viral on the social media containing derogatory, contemptuous, and scandalous language against the judiciary, and the judges.

The AGP in the last hearing told the bench that the matter was referred to the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

He contended that the FIA, after registering a case under the Electronic Crime Act, 2016, had started a probe.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan, another member of the bench, said the crime in the video clip, fell under the Pakistan Penal Code as the names of judges and individuals had been taken.

He had questioned why the FIA initiated investigation on its own on the video, adding that the FIA came into action, after the registration of a complaint by a judge's wife at Secretariat Police Station.

Sarina Faez Isa, the wife of Justice Qazi Faez Isa, had lodged a complaint with Islamabad Police on Wednesday, stating, "I am the wife of Mr Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who is a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and whom a death threat has been extended."

She wrote in her application submitted with the SHO Islamabad Secretariat Police Station, in person, that her father was very seriously ill, and "today is the first day", she had stepped out of the house. "I do not want to also lose my husband," she had stated.
