Governor inaugurates Alkhidmat Covid-19 lab

Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail inaugurated Alkhidmat Covid-19 test laboratory in Nazimabad along with Alkhidmat Karachi president and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) city chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.

Addressing the ceremony, Imran Ismail said Alkhidmat is not only a welfare institute but also an honourable and honest institution.

Coronavirus test is out of poor's reach and setting up such a centre would cater need of underprivileged as well as citizens, he commended. Admiring Alkhidmat, he said meager funds spending if judiciously utilized could make a great difference and Alkidmat stands for it.

Alkhidmat Diagnostic project director Prof Naila Tariq while briefing on project informed the governor that philanthropists and Corporate Pakistan Group has assistance in the project and in next step a research academy would also be set up.

Test reports will be given within 24 hours, she added. She also appealed for federal government's help in this regard.

Corporate Group founder Azfar Ahsan requested governor to come forward and provide assistance to this institute. Chairman Diagnostic Complex governing body, Haroon Qasim on the occasion thanked Corporate Group for funds of Rs 30 million and also said a research and development project is also under consideration.

He informed that only Rs 3,000 would come around for test on no gain no loss basis as actual cost stands to Rs 4,500.

Director Medical Services, Azhar Chughtai presented bouquet to governor and later guest along with others took round of the laboratory.
