Postpone PSL6 for Asia Cup: BCCI official suggests PCB

25 Jun, 2020

A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has suggested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to postpone Pakistan Super League (PSL) sixth edition in order to make window for the Asia Cup next year.

The T20 tournament takes place every year between February and March. However, this year’s edition came to an unexpected suspension just before the playoffs due to coronavirus crises. The board is still keen on staging the remainder of tournament in November.

Talking to Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), the BCCI official said that the September or October window this year for Asia Cup doesn’t suit the Indian board.

“Asia Cup will be a struggle this year. Going by the statement of the Chief Executive of the PCB, the window that suits them doesn’t suit India. Maybe they can postpone PSL next year if BCCI is able to open up a window during that period. Otherwise conducting the Asia Cup doesn’t seem too practical as these are challenging times,” the official said as quoted by Outlook.

Pakistan is the designated host for this year’s Asia Cup, but the PCB is looking to swap the hosting rights with Sri Lanka.
