THE RUPEE: Mixed trend

KARACHI: Pakistan On Wednesday, upon market closing, Pakistan Rupee showed a mixed behaviour where it lost value, remained unchanged and gained value against major currencies in open and interbank markets.

Against Euro, PKR lost 2.50 rupees for both buying and selling with respect to yesterday's rates closing at 188 and 190 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 45.10 and 45.40 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for buying while losing 10 paisas for selling closing at 44.10 and 44.40 respectively.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading on a healthy note and registered fresh gain following buyers' interest. At close of trading, the dollar ended higher at Rs 167.50 and Rs 168.50 as its buying and selling rate against the overnight closing of Rs 167.20 and Rs 168.40, respectively.

Similarly, the rupee maintained downward trend for another day and depreciated against the pound sterling that purchased and sold at Rs 207.30 and Rs 209.00 on buying and selling counters as compared to the day earlier closing of Rs 206.50 and Rs 208.10, respectively, the dealers said.

The dollar opened at Rs 168.50(buying) and Rs 168.60(selling) against last rate of Rs 167.50(buying) and Rs 167.60(selling).

It closed atRs 168.50(buying) and Rs 168.60(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 110,800(selling) and Rs 110.500(selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
