THE RUPEE: Mixed behaviour

KARACHI: On Monday, upon market closing, Pakistan Rupee showed a mixed behaviour where it lost value, remained unchanged and gained value against major currencies in open and interbank markets.

Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling with respect to Friday's rates closing at 184.50 and 186 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 44.90 and 45.30 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR weakened by 5 paisas for buying while gaining 15 paisas for selling closing at 43.90 and 44.10 respectively.

Following lack of buyers' interest in the market, the dollar remained under selling pressure and ended lower for buying and selling at Rs 166.50 and Rs 167.70 against the previous closing rate of Rs 166.70 and Rs 167.90 respectively, local currency dealers said.

On the contrary, the national currency depreciated its worth in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 205.00 and Rs 206.70 against the last closing trend of Rs 204.50 and Rs 206.20 respectively, they added.

The dollar opened at Rs 167 (buying) and Rs 167.10 (selling) against last week's rate of Rs168 (buying) and Rs 168.10 (selling).

It closed at Rs 167 (buying) and Rs 167.10 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold remained Rs 108,900 (selling) and Rs 108,500 (selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
