ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Monday asked the minister for law and justice to immediately constitute National Commission on the Rights of Children and apprised the House in that regard on Friday.

After Rehman Malik's briefing to the House on the tragic incident of Kasur, the chairman said the House had passed an act to set the commission, which unfortunately had not been implemented so far.

He referred the Zainab case issue to committees on interior and human rights, with the directive to visit Kasur and compile a report.

"We should be informed about all the facts and progress of the Zainab case. We need to know why the culprit behind this incident has not been caught so far,” the Senate chairman observed.

Rabbani said the Senate had also taken notice in 2015 when 280 children were abused and were later black-mailed through their pornographic films. The matter was referred to the Functional Committee on Human Rights which had recommended a comprehensive legislation, he added.

The chairman also informed the House that a small museum had been set up to preserve history of the Senate, which would be formally opened on Tuesday.
