Government urged to avoid shifting general bus stand

31 Jul, 2011

Traders and transporters have urged the government not to shift general bus stand out of the city as the 'bureaucratic' step would not only deprive dozens of markets of their business share but would also jack up graph of unemployment to new heights.
A meeting presided over by Chairman of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Standing Committee on Punjab Traders Co-ordination, Waqar Ahmad Mian appealed to the Chief Justice and chief minister to take notice of shifting of bus stand.
Waqar Ahmad said that the Chief Minister should direct the concerned departments to ensure facilities at Badami Bagh Bus Stand instead of coming up with the idea that would deprive government of huge revenue being deposited by the businessmen of the area. He said that the highest ever rate of inflation, acute shortage of gas, Reformed General Sales Tax, high cost of doing business have already been adding to the problems of business community and government should avoid any such decision that could trouble the community.
