Judicial remand of Anjum Aqeel extended

Anti-Terrorism Court has extended the judicial remand of Anjum Aqeel, MNA, accused of Rs 6 billion Police foundation land scam along all other accused involved in the run away case of Anjum Aqeel. Muhammad Akram Awan, Judge of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) No 1, resumed the hearing of the escape case of Anjum Aqeel from Police custody and asked the police about the main accused.
The prosecution responded that the accused is under treatment in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and could not be produced in the court. The court accepting the reason for non-production of the accused adjourned the hearing, but ordered the police to submit the challan against all the accused on the next hearing of the case set on August 9.
Aqeel was arrested by Shalimar Police on July 15 in Rs 6 billion Police Foundation land scam while his supporters attacked the Police and took the MNA away from the police custody. But the mounting pressure forced Anjum Aqeel to surrender after 24 hours. Anjum Aqeel is being charged under Section 780-A of the Anti-Terrorism Act, a non-bail able offence, and not under the Pakistan Penal Code Police had registered cases against PML-N MNA under 12 different sections including Terrorism Act.
