Chinese banker sees more challenges in 2011

China's economic outlook will be more complicated in 2011 and the country will face many "new tasks and challenges", the central bank governor said on Friday. In the text of a speech published on the central bank's website, Zhou Xiaochuan also reiterated that the People's Bank of China would implement a prudent monetary policy in 2011.
China will strive to ensure basic stability in prices in 2011, central bank chief Zhou Xiaochuan said on Friday. In a New Year's message, Zhou reiterated that the People's Bank of China would implement a prudent monetary policy next year and make its policies more targeted and flexible. Chinese consumer price inflation rose 5.1 percent in the year to November, a 28-month high, and the central bank has raised interest rates twice in the past three months.
