Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 129,341 tonnes of cargo including 92,751 tonnes of import cargo; 36,590 tonnes of export cargo and 4,663 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 92,751 tonnes comprised of 32,069 tonnes of containerised cargo; 58 tonnes of general cargo; 29,174 tonnes of bulk cargo and 31,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,590 tonnes comprised of 25,550 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32 tonnes of general cargo and 11,008 tonnes of bulk cargo. Seven ships sailed out to sea during the reported period, while seven vessels are currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 88,368 tonnes includes 39,965 tonnes of crude oil; 17,642 tonnes of palm oil; 471 tonnes of chemicals; 2,380 tonnes of sugar; 11,875 tonnes of iron ore and 16,035 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 15,164 tonnes includes 1,580 tonnes of cement and 13,584 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two vessels viz MT Catterick and CV Nord Winter sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while three more vessels viz CV MSC Basal, MV Harizon and MT Karachi are expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon. A total number of eight ships namely CV Nord Winter, CV MSC Basal, MV Rose-II, MV Lady Nariman, MV Tala, MV Harizon, MT Karachi and MV Go Star are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, sugar, palm oil, crude oil and iron ore respectively during last 24 hours.
Six vessels viz Nedlloyd Mercator, Al-Deerah, Thor Spirit, Amira-S, Al-Kawther and Rana carrying containers, diesel oil, project cargo and rice/cement are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four ships namely CV Nedlloyd Mercator, CV Hanjin Los Angles, MT Al-Deerah and MT MT Theresa Gemini carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday. Oil tanker MT FR-8 Regina Mar due to arrive on Tuesday, while five more ships namely CV Libra Copacabana, CV CMA CGM Jade, CV Izumo, MT Quetta and MT Al-Salam-II are due to arrive on Wednesday.
