Fata legislators join PPP

Two Senators and one member of National Assembly have joined Pakistan People's Party (PPP) during a meeting with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. Sources told Business Recorder that after their meeting with the Prime Minister three parliamentarians also held a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari in the evening and apprised him of their decision to formally join PPP.
Senators Abbas Khan Afridi, Idrees Khan Saifi and MNA Kamran Khan announced that they fully agree with the ideology and manifesto of PPP and therefore, decided to support the government unconditionally. When contacted Senator Abbas Khan Afridi, he conformed that they have joined the PPP.
According to a statement Gilani welcomed the decision of three Parliamentarians who have decided to extend full support to the PPP government and ensured unconditional co-operation to the government. The people of FATA, he said, have made great sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
The government, he added, is committed to bring back normalcy in the region through consolidation, reconstruction and development efforts. Federal Ministers Waqar Ahmed Khan, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Political Adviser to Prime Minister Nawabzada Ghazanfar Gul were also present on the occasion.
