SUKKUR: Provincial Minister for Trade and Industry Sindh, Manzoor Hussain Wassan has said that growers' role in economy of Sindh is important and date growers and exporters are recognised in Europe, USA and other counties.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of the 9th date palm seminar and exhibition, he said the government was trying to include Khairpur Economic Industrial Zone in China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Minister said Pakistan stands 5th in world rating for export of date and we have planned promoting dates with full zeal for economy growth.

He said that 60 cold storage would be constructed in Khairpur Special Economic Zone to protect dates.

He said the Peoples Party has a solid plan for providing jobs and in this regard hundreds of job would be created in the special economic zone in Khairpur.

Chairman District Council Khairpur, Shaharyar Khan Wassan said the main reason of the event was to promote the date industry and in this regard the District Council has prepared a promotion plan.   The Deputy Commissioner Khairpur, (DC) Muhammad Nawaz Sohu highlighted the importance of the seminar.

A cultural and musical concert was also held on the occasion in which renowned artists including Sanam Marvi, Mahnoor, Tufail Sanjrani, Ali Gull Mallah, Suhrab Soomro and others performed.

On the occasion, DC presented shields to provincial minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan, Muhammad Usman Khalid ADC-1, Muhammad Iqbal Jandan ADC-2, ASP city Imran Mirza, DSP Iqbal Malik, DIB incharge Ali Gul Malah and others. Commissioner Sukkur, Muhammad Abbas Baloch, SSP Khairpur Ghulam Azafar Mahesar and others also attended ceremony.
