Benoni Zalmis chief Javed Afridi has picked up South Africa’s legendry captain Greame Smith as the Head Coach of his side.

The Proteas legend and record-holding ex-captain was announced as Head Coach, while prolific First-Class left-handed batsman Geoffrey Toyana was announced as Assistant Coach.

“I’m excited and looking forward to this association,” said Smith in a press conference.

Smith also mentioned relishing the prospect of working with Chairman Benoni Zalmi and Peshawar Zalmi, Mr Javed Afridi in his new role.

“We look forward to Graeme's valuable inputs and guidance to inspire youth to strive towards changing their destiny using Benoni Zalmi as a platform,” said Afridi.

On 27th August the 8 teams participating in the Global T20 League will pick their squads in a highly-anticipated draft in Cape Town.
