Nadias paintings put on display

10 Apr, 2009

An exhibition of paintings by Nadia Hussain opened here on Thursday at Rohtas Art Gallery (RAG) with the presentation of 27 works. The artist has captured the images of bones from the skeleton of human body that express, convey and communicate the desired plan of humans. Nadias work presents a visual manifestation on various forms, media suggesting a number of possibilities and interpretations.
The human figure holds a specific significance in the work of Nadia, as she focus on displacement which is basically a process that takes place elsewhere - in imagination, dreams and thoughts, probably a frightening experience both for the maker and the spectator.
Her works are presented in strong colours and splashes of transparent paints while the interplay of various hues indicates the inner turmoil of an individual, without being illustrative or obvious. Few of her works are titled as "The story of my face", "The Thread", "Still the same" and others. The exhibition will continue till April 17.
