KARACHI: Two ships M.T YM Miranda and M.V Uni- Bulker carrying Chemical and Steel Coil were allotted berths at Multi Purpose Terminal berth # 1 and 2 respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Thursday.

Meanwhile two more ships MSC Sao Paulo and M.T Lion-M with Containers and Furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at fifty six percent on Wednesday where a total of nine ships namely, M.V Maersk Hartford, MSC Esthi, APL Columbus, Uni-Bulker, YM Miranda, Gas Odyssey, Star Trader, Sky Ploeg and Jag Lavanya are currently occupying berths to load/ offload Containers, Steel Coil, Chemical, Soya Bean Seeds, Palm Oil and Furnace Oil respectively.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood 143,173 tonnes, comprising 95,998 tones import cargo and 47,175 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,365 Containers TEUs) 590 imports TEUs and 2,775 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.

Four ships, C.V Maersk Hartford, C.V MSC Esthi, M.T Gas Odyssey and M.T Sky Ploeg sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships M.T Jag Lavanya, C.V APL Columbus and M.V Star Trader are expected to sail on same day.

A total of five ships C.V MSC Sao Paulo, M.V Yang Ze Lo, M.T Sea Elegant, M.T Maritime Nordic and M.T Scirocco carrying Containers, Canola Seeds, Chemicals, Palm oil and Diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT, FAP, MW-1, LCT and FOTCO respectively on Thursday.
