Talking to APP they said a beginning has been marked in the country whereby Prime Minister has gracefully submitted himself in compliance to the directives of the highest seat of judiciary.

This, the citizens in general hoped could be a giant leap towards across the board accountability in the country with no exceptions or concessions.

"I am proud of the fact that our Prime Minister has set a precedence and hope that a culture would gain strong roots whereby no one would be above the law," said Iqbal Wasi, a senior educationist.

Wasi, a mathematician by qualification reiterated that trend must be followed by other institutions too and allegations must be allowed to be properly investigated without any exception.

Raza Babbar said PM Nawaz Sharif has shown his respect and regard for law by appearing before the JIT comprising government officers, who are technically his subordinates.

"This reflected his magnanimity as despite holding the office of Prime Minister i.e. head of government he presented himself before government officers assigned a job by the Supreme Court, said Babbar, a chartered Accountant by profession.

Dr. Qamar Zaidi, a medical practitioner was of the opinion that a culture to make public reports of investigations conducted by committees and commissions must also be developed so that people in general are made to understand things in the right perspective.

Zaidi urged the national institutions to play their respective role in restoring public confidence and also availing of the opportunity provided by a leader of stature.
