Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing Sharif family’s offshore assets in the Panama case.

The premier accompanied by his brother Shahbaz Sharif and son Hussain Nawaz, arrived at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) in Islamabad at 11 am, amid tight security and extensive protocol.

Despite, the premier’s early instructions to not gather in front of the FJA secretariat, a large number of PML-N workers were present to support Nawaz Sharif. However, only PM along with his personal secretary was allowed to enter the FJA building.

According to Dawn, the JIT panel will be quizzing the premier about his varying speeches made on different occasions following the Panama leaks, including his address to the nation, his speech in the National Assembly and his statement before the Supreme Court. The panel will also inquire about how the PM and his family earned money for their offshore businesses.

Earlier, the JIT also summoned the premier’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz multiple times during the probe. The JIT has also summoned CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on June 17 and PM’s son-in-law, Captain Mohammad Safdar on June 25.

The JIT has to complete the Panama leaks investigation within two months, as directed by the Supreme Court.
