KMC requests Sindh Govt to allocate Rs9bn for 143 dev projects: Mayor

The elected representatives have got this opportunity after ten years to serve the people and we hope that these schemes would be approved by the Secretary Local Government in the larger interest of the people, he said.

The Mayor was addressing a press conference on Tuesday at his office, said a statement.

Waseem Akhtar announced different development schemes of current Provincial ADP with estimated cost of Rs. 13 billion for 2017-18 sent to Sindh government for approval.

He said Sindh Chief Minister had allocated Rs12 billion and as per his announcement all development works including mega projects will be completed in June this year.

He pointed out that like previous practice all these schemes be handed down for execution to KMC.

The Mayor also requested to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah that schemes sent to him be approved so that elected people could resolve the problems of the people.

He said these schemes have been sent by elected members and the CM Sindh should approve these schemes.

These schemes, he said belong to current Provincial ADP hence these schemes should not be completed by Project Director but by KMC.

Deputy Mayor Dr. Arshad Vohra, Municipal Commissioner Hanif Mohammad Marchawala, City Council Parliamentary leader Aslam Shah Afridi and other officers were also present in the meeting.

The Mayor Karachi on this occasion presented details of the 143 uplift works planned for 2017-18 having an estimated cost of Rs. 25billion.

He said new fiscal year is about to begin now and we have planned more works in least possible time.

Replying to a question the Mayor said we have chalked out a comprehensive traffic plan for Ramazan, the city wardens of KMC will be deputed in each district to assist the traffic police during rush hours.
