Sindh Police budget substantially increased to curb terrorism, extremism

Sindh Senior Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro during question hour regarding Home Department on behalf of the Chief Minister who also holds portfolio of home minister said that in wake of the nation's unified stance in 2013 in the shape of National Action Plan to counter terrorism and extremism it was imperative for the provincial government to enhance the capacity and bring professionalism in police.

He said that the budge of Sindh Police in 2013-14 was Rs71.005 billion which was increased to Rs77.925 billion in 2016-17.

He further said that the overall budge allocation of Karachi Police during the current financial year 2016-17 is Rs 29.723 billion as a salary component and Rs12.952 billion for operational purpose.

Replying to another question, he said that in all 246 security companies were registered in the province and there existed no unregistered private security companies.

Khuhro, answering another question, said that arms license fee is presently been collected by the National Bank of Pakistan instead of Pakistan Post Offices and this mode of collection was changed to get all collections centralized.

To a question, he said that Rs9,996,200,200 were utilized for maintenance of law and order in the province during 2008-12.

Informing about the dacoits arrested in district Larkana and Shikarpur during 2011-13, he said that a total of 17 dacoits were arrested in Larkana and Shikarpur. They all were challaned and were under trail in the concerned court of law.
