Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq says Pakistan would not only beat India at the ICC Champions Trophy but also to win the coveted tournament.

Pakistan will start its Champions Trophy campaign against arch rivals and the defending champions India on June 4 at Birmingham, England.

The chief selector said that the team aim is not limited to beating India but to win the Champions trophy.

“We are not going to England just to beat India but our prime target is to win the championship,” the Dawn quoted Inzamam as saying.

Pakistan have a slight edge over India at this International Cricket Council’s (ICC) event with 2-1.

The former skipper---while recollecting that it was under his captaincy that Pakistan had defeated India in the 2004 edition of the marquee event at the same Edgbaston ground by three wickets---insisted that the current team could again defeat India.

“We can win again,” he said.

The chief selector also maintained that his team would leave no stones unturned and would try hard to win every match of the tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to begin from June 1 in Wales and England.
