National Assembly passes two bills

The bills passed by Lower House included the National School of Public Policy (Amendment) Bill 2017 and the Marine Insurance Bill, 2017.

According to the statement of Objects and Reasons, the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) is a prestigious institution of federal government vested with the functions of imparting training and grooming of government officers in policy formulation and implementation.   The bill seeks to revitalize and reorganize this key institution for good governance to improve its image, efficient delivery and capacity to face challenges of ever-changing socio economic milieu by removing some lacunas or inconsistencies in the administrative processes and to improve and integrate Federal Government's training infrastructure.

The bill envisages to bring clarity to NSPP's functional domain; give representation to Provinces in the Board of NSPP, lay down manner to deal with disciplinary matters and others.

The other bill-the Marine Insurance Bill, 2017-aims to provide for the regulation of the business of marine insurance and to encourage as well as promote marine insurance sector in Pakistan.
