Manchester United finds Rooney’s replacement

13 May, 2017

According to Radio Cadena Nacional (RCN), Madrid wants to sell the Colombian captain they signed for 80m euros in 2014.

The Colombian radio added that Jose Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes has the 'beginning' of an agreement with the club.

On the other hand Daily Mail reported that Rodriguez has it written into his Adidas contract that he has to wear the No 10 so he would take Wayne Rooney's shirt when the England captain leaves the club this summer.

Real Madrid want to sell Rodriguez to generate funds for their customary summer spending spree but they are not likely to ask for any less for the player than they paid for him three years ago.

Their public line is that no decision will be taken about the player's future until the end of the season.

It is pertinent to mention here that Rodriguez appears in the club's latest promotional campaign entitled 'defending the crown' ahead of their attempt to become the first team ever to retain the Champions League.

But he has struggled for minutes this season and is unlikely to start the final in Cardiff on June 3.
