RAWALPINDI: DG ISPR held a press conference on Wednesday regarding the settlement of Dawn Leaks issue between the civilian government and military leadership. He stated ISPR press release was not against any government office or official.

The ISPR chief held a press conference to clear the air regarding several major developments on the domestic and international front over the past few weeks.

According to a statement issued by ISPR on its website, Dawn Leaks issue has been resolved now hence the tweet is being withdrawn. The statement further said, "Recommendations as contained in Para 18 of the Inquiry Committee Report, duly approved by the Prime Minister, have been implemented, which has settled the Dawn leaks issue. Accordingly, ISPR DG said Twitter post stands withdrawn and has become infructuous."

ISPR DG further said, "Pakistan Army reiterates its firm commitment and continued resolve to uphold the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and supports the democratic process."

Earlier, the Pakistan Army on Wednesday retracted its earlier statement rejecting a notification from the Prime Minister’s Office on Dawn Leaks and said that Dawn Leaks issues is resolved for them.

According to the details, the Pakistan Army on Wednesday “withdrew” a tweet by Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor which “rejected” Prime Minister House directives about the Dawn story inquiry.

The development follows a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
