His religious remarks against the ‘forced religiousness’ sparked a row on social media. And just a few days after, the singer posted a video on his Twitter account wherein the ‘Azaan’ can be heard very clearly. And not only this, he captioned his video ‘Good morning India’.

Earlier, Sonu Nigam had posted a series of tweets saying though he is not a Muslim, he was woken up by the morning ‘Azaan’ and asked when would this "forced religiousness" end in India?

After the backlash Sonu Nigam received following his tweets about 'forced religiousness', the singer has clarified his statement saying that his statements were not against any religion but usage of loudspeakers.

Sonu Nigam whose harsh remarks over the ‘Azaan’ sparked outrage on social media has now divided Bollywood as well.

Amid the controversy, actress Kangana Ranaut said she has no problems with ‘Azaan’ but felt what the singer said should be respected and discussed.

While, lyricist and scriptwriter Javed Akhtar said that prayers at any place of worship should not disturb others.
