Hasan was charged by the Anti Corruption tribunal at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore during a preliminary hearing of the case pertaining to an ongoing probe into spot-fixing allegations which rocked the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year.

Hasan, 27, who was previously provisionally suspended by PCB, was charged with breaching articles 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 of the PCB's code by the tribunal.

“Shahzaib Hasan cricketer has been charged with breaches of Articles 2.1.4; 2.4.4; and 2.4.5 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code for Participants 2015,” read a PCB press statement.

“Shahzaib Hasan shall be provided an opportunity to respond by 18th May 2017 and PCB may, at its discretion, file a rebuttal by 25th May 2017. The Final Hearing shall commence from 1st June 2017 on a day to day basis” the statement added.

The preliminary hearing was attended by Justice (retd) Asghar Haider, Lt Gen (retd) Tauqir Zia, ex-cricketer Wasim Bari, Shahzaib Hasan and his lawyer, two lawyers from the PCB and Col (retd) Mohammad Azam Khan, the head of PCB's Vigilance and Security Department.

Cricketers including Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan and Sharjeel Khan too, have been charged by PCB's anti-corruption unit.
