Apple has just confirmed its latest line of self-driven smart cars aptly named “The iCars”, following suit of the tech giants, Tesla and Google.

After taking over the world of smart-phones and mobiles, Apple Inc is all set to change the face of modern transportation. The company’s idea behind this new invention is to relieve jamming and prevent deaths caused by accidents.

On Friday, the California Department of Motor Vehicles awarded Apple the permit for testing self-driven car technology on public roads within the state. The permit has allowed three vehicles that include all 2015 Lexus RX 450h hybrid SUVs and six individual drivers who can control the car if something goes wrong according to the law requirements.

The Cupertino, a California based company reiterated back to one of their statement issued in December, saying, "Apple is investing heavily in machine learning and autonomous systems. There are many potential applications for these technologies, including the future of transportation."

Apple will be now be a part of competitive race against 29 other companies that already have Californian permits to test self-driving cars. The other major automobile producers include BMW, Ford, Tesla, Volkswagen as well as biggest the biggest tech pro-rival Google. Google has now been testing its self-driving car named Waymo for the past eight years which gives Apple a long way to go to give them a run for their money.

Brilliant inventions like iPhones, iPads, smart watches etc has shown the company’s power of delivering what it promises and it’s not to say that the new cars will be any different.
