Airbus unions threatened strike action on Tuesday over job losses which they fear could affect 10,000 posts at the troubled EADS jetmaker subsidiary. "We fear that the figure will go up to 10,000 ... We fear it is serious that 10,000 jobs will be lost," European Metalworkers Federation head Peter Scherrer told a news conference.
Airbus is due to unveil restructuring plans on Wednesday. Airbus's 2 billion euro ($2.6 billion) annual cost-saving plan is expected to trigger job losses and possible factory sales in France and Germany, with jobs in Spain and Britain also at risk.
