The Fesco is initiating a mega project to renovate and upgrade its existing grid stations besides adding to 12 new grid stations at a cost of Rs 1.2 billion, said Sheikh Muhammad Ashraf, Manager, Grid System Construction.
Talking to newsmen, he said the work was in full swing on five grids, out of which 132 KV Thekriwala, Satiana and Kamalpur grid stations would be completed before June 30. Grid stations at 103-RB and 126-Buland Hill were also at different stages of completion while work on Bhera Industrial, Rajana, Madanpura, Millat Road, Hust Khewa, Kot Shakir and Jamali Baloch would also be started soon, he added.
He said six 66-KV grid stations were being upgraded up to 132-KV to stabilise electricity supply besides fulfilling the increasing demand of electricity in various parts of the region. Out of these, Satiana grid station has been upgraded and made functional while the work on remaining four was nearing to completion. He hoped that it would be completed by 30 June 2007.
Sheikh Ashraf said 15 augmentation projects were being started and out of these 14 had been completed, including Old Thermal, Nishatabad, Pathankot, Karana, Bandala, Chiniot Industrial, Nawan Lahore, Lundianwala, Khewa, Jhang-II, Fazal, Bhal and Sargodha-II. He said the work on Turk grid station was in progress and would be completed soon. About the projects for the extension of transformer bays, the GSC Manager said total six schemes were started. Two projects had been completed while work on remaining four was in full swing.
The additional transformers had been arranged and their installation work would be started soon, he added. Sheikh Muhammad Ashraf said 17 projects of transmission lines had been started in various parts of the region with a total length of thousands of kilometers.
He said some major transmission line projects include Nishatabad-Shahkot (44 Kilometers), Satiana Grid Feeder (5-km), Summundri Grid Feeder (22.4 km), Shahkot (5-km), Shorkot-Haveli Bahadar Shah (29-km), Nishatabad-Shahkot and Bandala-Khurrianwala in and out (3-km). He said 50-kilometer transmission line would be added with each new grid station.
