Security at churches tightened

Extra-ordinary security measures were taken on the eve of Easter and security cover to all churches on the eve of Easter would be provided in Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
"We have taken foolproof security measures for the Christian minority and Police guards were deployed at all the churches on the eve of Easter as it was the prime responsibility of the government as well as the police to protect the lives and property of minorities." Acting DIG Police Multan Range, Munir Ahmed Chishti said.
He said at least 2,000 policemen were being deployed at the main gates of 423 churches. Similarly, 40 officials of Mobile and Tiger Squads would patrol on 20 bikes while 15 police personnel carries of Mobile Squad would patrol the areas where 'A' category churches were situated.
He asked the SP security to provide metal detectors to the police officials deputed at main the gates. He said deployment of police officials would be doubled at 33 churches of 'A' category. Two officials on a bike would also be deployed at each church.
