Romania's 8-month consolidated budget deficit at 0.4pc/GDP

BUCHAREST: Romania's consolidated budget deficit rose to 0.4 percent of gross domestic product in the first wight months, from a gap of 0.2 percent at the end of July, finance ministry data showed on Monday.

In nominal terms, the deficit stood at 3.12 billion lei ($790.57 million) at the end of August.

Revenues totalled 147.22 billion lei, or 19.4 percent of GDP.

Spending reached 19.8 percent of GDP. The European Union state targets a deficit of just under 3 percent of GDP in December.

Earlier on Monday, Finance Minister Anca Dragu told parliament she saw no risk of overshooting the target for this year, adding that the ministry's hard currency buffer would cover five months worth of funding needs.
