South Zone Group sweeps Reap elections

The South Zone Group has swept the elections for managing committee of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap), South Zone by bagging all the five seats on Saturday. The polling was held at Reap House Karachi. Out of total 289 South Zone votes 194 votes were cast.
It was for the first time in the history of Reap that three different panels namely South Zone Group, United Group and Merit Group contested the elections.
According to the results, South Zone Group candidates Muhammad Iqbal (S. No 10) of Mehran Spice and Food Industries by getting 108 votes, Muhammad Amjad (S. No 11) of Haji Khushi Muhammad and Co 115 votes, Rafique Suleman (S. No 13) of R. B. International 94 votes, Haji Abdul Majid (S. No 15) of Commodity Links International 107 votes and Wajid Mumtaz Paracha (S. No 16) of Fordees International Trading 91 votes, were elected for five managing committee seats.
South Zone Group chairman and former Reap chairman Abdul Rahim Janoo while congratulating the members said that they had again reposed their confidence in the group and now it is responsibility of new elected leadership to serve for the betterment of rice trade.
He assured that the Group would continue its services for the welfare of Reap members and asked the members to remain united, saying that it is expected that the next association chairman would be elected from the South Zone Group.
Famous rice exporter and a leader of South Zone Group Mehboob Ahmed Paracha said that the group's success was the result of teamwork. "The success of whole panel shows that the Reap members have trust in the group.
Rice Exporter from Quetta Haji Fojan Khan of National Enterprises has said on the occasion that rice exporters of Quetta have reposed their confidence in the leadership of South Zone Group chief Rahim Janoo, adding that new leadership will help facilitate Quetta-based rice exporters.
