28 Aug, 2005

Pakistan and India will hold two-day talks on terrorism and drug trafficking from Monday (Tomorrow) within the framework of composite dialogue. An eight-member Pakistan delegation led by Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah arrived here on Saturday evening to participate in the parleys. Indian side will be headed by Home Secretary V K Duggal.
Talking to APP, Kamal Shah said the issue of Pakistani prisoners, both civilian and fishermen, languishing in Indian jails would be raised during the talks.
"We will also try to meet Pakistani prisoners in Indian Jails during the stay," he said, adding: "it will be our effort to ensure their earliest release."
In response to a question, the Interior secretary said that Pakistani side would like to propose India that innocent citizens who committed minor visa violations or crossed the border inadvertently being unaware of laws were released by both the sides within couple of days after necessary verification and investigation.
