Punjab to upgrade 400 technical institutes

The Punjab government would upgrade 400 technical institutes across the province under the Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's vision-2020. Punjab Minister for Food, Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal said this while talking to APP here on Monday.
The Minister said the government under the CM's vision 2020 had decided to take steps for the development of technical education in the province. In this connection he said, preparation of courses about technical education would be started soon.
Initially, an estimated amount of Rs 310 million would be spent on the completion of these projects, he said. Under this plan, upgradation work for Commercial Training institutes at industrial cities has been started, he said adding, the decision has also been made to set up modern technical institutions in other cities.
The Minister said government was working on various directions for the development of industry, while the process to upgrade industrial infrastructure had also been started in the province.
He said upgradation of technical institutions would not only meet the needs of industrialists but this would also provide job opportunities to technical persons.
