Punjab chief minister pledges to improve lives of poor masses

The Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Sunday made a pledge to bring improvement in the lives of poor masses by enabling them to reap the real fruits of the independence. He was speaking at the national flag hoisting ceremony at Alamgiri Gate of the historic Lahore Fort on the occasion of 58th independence anniversary of Pakistan.
The Chief Minister congratulated the nation on this happy occasion and stressed the need for extending benefits of independence and prosperity to the poor citizens.
He said that he was praying from the core of his heart for the well being of the impoverished and needy people. He sought help and blessings from Allah Almighty for the success of his efforts.
"We got the independence 58 years ago and I pray to Allah to enable us to work for bringing a positive change and improvement in the lives of poor segment of our society", he said.
The Chief Minister also announced cash awards for school children that sang patriotic songs on the occasion. The national anthem and abstracts from speeches of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah were also presented on the occasion.
