Maoist guerrillas dynamited a police station, killing two officers in eastern India Friday, police said, a day after New Delhi ruled out direct talks with ultra-leftist militant outfits. In a pre-dawn raid, some 50 guerrillas stormed the police station in Chabilapur village in lawless Bihar state, killing the two police officers and injuring two others, a police spokesman said.
"They attacked the building with dynamite and blew it up," the spokesman, who wished to remain anonymous, said in the state capital Patna. The attack came a day after Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patil rejected a parliamentary panel's recommendation for direct peace talks between the federal government and banned Maoist groups.
