Setting up of multipurpose farming project discussed

A five-member delegation of Kissan Council led by its president Ayub Chaudhry called on Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Salman Shah at the Ministry of Finance here on Saturday. The delegation discussed the possibility of setting up of a pilot project of multiple farming with the help of national agricultural research council (NARC) in semi hilly area of the Potohar region.
Highlighting the potential of the region the delegation said that the area is suitable for fish, cattle and goat farming and climatically conducive for almond and olive trees plantation.
The bottlenecks and long procedure for advancing agriculture loan by the banks were also discussed.
The adviser appreciated the interest of Kissan Council for multipurpose farming project and assured them all possible help and assistance. He assured the delegation that the matter pertaining to setting up of the pilot project would be taken up with NARC at appropriate level. The president of the council also offered to provide land to NARC for the pilot project.
