Heavy rains expected in coastal areas

Rain system developed on the Indian coastal city, Mumbai, was heading towards Pakistani coastal areas, which might result in heavy rains in the coastal areas of Sindh within the next 24 hours and medium and heavy rains were also expected in Punjab, NWFP and Kashmir.
Chief Meteorologist Shaukat Ali Awan disclosed this while addressing a meeting of the Punjab Flood Relief Committee here on Monday, which was presided by Safdar Javed Syed, Senior Member Board of Revenue and Punjab Relief Commissioner. The provincial secretary food, secretary livestock, additional secretary information, director general relief Punjab, chief meteorologist, among others also attended the meeting.
The chief meteorologist further informed the meeting that 56-mm and 55-mm rain in Shakargarh and Bhimber respectively been recorded. "This would result in flash water in Nullah Aik and Nullah Deg. However, all the rivers in the province were flowing as usual," he added.
