Saran to attend Saarc body meeting in Islamabad

Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran will proceed to Pakistan on August 16 to attend two-day meeting of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) Standing Committee for the preparation of Saarc Summit, to be held in Dhaka in November this year.
The two-day Saarc Standing Committee, to be held on August 17 and 18 in Islamabad, will be attended by Foreign Secretaries from all member states of the regional grouping, well placed sources said here on Friday.
The meeting of the Programming Committee, to be attended by the senior officers from the Foreign Ministries of the member nations, will be held on August 16 in Islamabad, added the sources.
Seven-member delegation from Pakistan, led by Tariq Osman Hyder, Additional Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will arrive here on August 04 to attend two-day talks on nuclear confidence building measures (CBMs).
External Affairs Ministry Additional Secretary Meera Shankar at the parleys on August 5 and 6 will head Indian side. While talks on Conventional CBMs will be held here on August 8, the sources maintained.
Pakistan's delegation on Trade, headed by Secretary Commerce Tasneem Noorani will arrive on August 8 to attend two-day meeting of Economic and Commercial Co-operation within the framework of Composite Dialogue process.
The two-day talks, to be held on August 9 and 10 are expected to take up various items of agenda including report of Joint Study Group and the issue of Non Tariff Barriers (NTBs) to enhance trade between the two countries.
