All in a day's work! - 'Getting good grade'

16 Jul, 2005

It's a pity!
What?
Am really worried.
What for?
For getting a 'F' grade.
What r u talking about?
Am talking about getting 'F' grade in a "school report card".
R u ok?
Yes I am, why u asked?
U r talking about school card?
Ya!
And u r talking about getting "F" grade at the age when you have crossed thirty?
Come on!
Am not talking about myself.
What?
U r not talking about yourself?
Ya!
Then whom r u talking about?
Oh!
Am referring to the 'Must do better report'.
What?
Who must do better?
The teacher of course!
What?
The teacher must do better. Why not the pupil?
Come on!
The report says that I am not saying it on my own.
Really?
And by the way who is the teacher?
"Pervez"
Are u suffering from insomnia?
Why?
U just used a name which is to be used after thinking twice if u want to refer to something which is not good. I have a 12-year old cousin, I think twice before calling him any name.
Come on!
Its what the report said.
Will u talk simple, I am really confused.
Ok!
Pakistan receives 'F' grade.
Now u r again confused, Pakistan would get F-16s after almost 20 years.
Ha ha ...........u r very innocent. Can't think beyond F-16s. Its good to have F-16s but not good to have F grade and the "must do better" report talked about Pakistan getting 'F' grade.
Will u say in simple words in which category Pakistan got 'F' grade?
My dear,
Pakistan has been ranked lowest in 14 Asian Pacific countries in a "School Report Card" investigating developing countries' commitment to basic education.
Oh!
The education is the prime target area where the government has focused its efforts. The report should have taken into account the increased spending and the allocation of education budget .The Higher Education Commission is playing due role in improving the standard of education. A senior ex-army official has been appointed to straighten up the affairs.
True!
But my friend, the report "must do better" is published by the Asian South Pacific Bureau of Adult Education, a network of 200 organisations and individuals.
Oh!
The report was released on 1st July, as part of White Arm Band Day Campaign of The Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP).
Oh! It must have been released in many Asian Pacific countries?
Ya!
The report mentioned adult illiteracy rate in Pakistan at 58.9 percent. Pakistan secured 24%, India 43%, Nepal 35%, Sri Lanka 79%,..............
And East Pakistan? Sorry I meant what grade Bangladesh got?
First tell me, why u used the name not to be repeated in bad things?
The report uses the format of a "School Report Card" to rank the leaders of these developing countries as "class leaders" or "poor performers".
Good idea!
As per report Begum Khaleda fared better than us getting 50%.
Oh!
So u were referring to the remarks .................
True!
The teacher's remark section for the leader, it is written in the report that " Pervez spends less per pupil than most of his South Asian neighbours and charges fees in full".
