Four held with 1.18 tons hashish

The Anti-Smuggling Wing of Peshawar Customs Collectorate on Saturday foiled a smuggling attempt and seized a huge cache of 1180 kg hashish. According to customs officials, the contraband was recovered from a Hiace van at Scheme Chowk, Kohat Road, on the outskirts of Peshawar city, and arrested four smugglers wearing mock Tochi Scouts uniforms.
Assistant Collector Custom Numan Wazir had received a tip that huge quantity contraband goods would be smuggled to Karachi from Bara in a mock Tochi Scouts Hiace vehicle.
To foil the attempt, a raiding party was formed which blocked the main Kohat Road near Scheme Chowk.
When the suspect vehicle appeared it was signalled to stop for search. The search led to the seizure of 1180 kg fine quality hashish.
Persons arrested included Taj Bahjadar, resident of Swabi, Mudassar and Muhammad Saleem of Gujrat and Haider of Bahadar Kally, Peshawar.
