Gastro outbreak: emergency declared in Zhob hospitals

Executive District Office (EDO) Health Dr Abdul Rahim Sherani said emergency has been declared in all the hospitals in connection with the outbreak of gastroenteritis in the town. Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said all the officials of health department have been directed to remain present at their duty places in hospitals to cope with the situation.16 people have so far been killed while a large number of populations affected due to gastro in Zhob, he said and added the epidemic have engulfed the entire district and the situation turned quite critical.
Meanwhile, Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jamal Shah Kakar also paid a surprise visit to District Headquarters Hospital Zhob to review the situation.
Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Naimatullah while briefing the Speaker on the occasion said the situation was aggravating in the town and about 300 patients were daily hospitalised in various hospitals.
He said provincial government has dispatched necessary medicines to Zhob for better treatment of the affected people and added hectic efforts were being made to overcome the situation.
The Speaker on the occasion assured complete co-operation of provincial government to cope with the situation and urged the Health Department to take effective measures to check further spread of the epidemic in the district.
