EU extends deadline on Maersk-Nedlloyd probe

The European Commission has extended the deadline for its review of Danish shipping giant A.P. Moeller-Maersk's bid to purchase smaller Dutch rival P&O Nedlloyd for 2.3 billion euros, a spokesman said on Friday. "The deadline has been extended to July 29 to examine remedies offered by the companies," EU Competition spokesman Jonathan Todd said.
A decision had been due by July 14 and the 10-working-day extension is a standard move to permit market testing of the concessions offered.
