Law in Fata being reviewed to amend FCR

The special committee constituted by NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman to recommend amendments to the prevailing law in Fata; known as Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR), in its meeting at the Governor's Fata Secretariat here on Monday, started clause-wise review of the law. The meeting held with Committee Chairman former Justice Mian Muhammad Ajmal in the chair, who has been a former Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, and former Judge of the Supreme Court; after having a detail review of the law decided to continue its deliberations on Wednesday as well.
However, the meeting agreed to a point to consult all the respective stakeholders, including the representatives of tribal people before finalising its recommendations.
The meeting was also attended by MNA from Kurram Agency Dr Syed Javed Hussain, former Senator from Khyber Agency Nawabzada Malik Inayat Khan Afridi, former NWFP chief secretary Khalid Aziz, former provincial secretary Sang-e-Marjan Khan, senior Journalist Rahimullah Yousafzai, two prominent advocates, Abdul Karim Mahsud and Wali Khan Afridi, Home Additional Secretary (political) Manzoor Ahmad, Fata Secretary (security) Arbab Muhammad Arif and Khyber Agency Political Agent Fida Muhammad Wazir.
