Chief of Pakistan Peoples Party's Hoti Group, Azam Khan Hoti said the damages due to monsoon flood was an eye opener for those who were favouring the controversial project of Kalabagh Dam. While criticising such groups, he said his party would convene an all-party conference (APC) to chalk out a collective strategy to help the affected people of province.
Addressing a press conference, chief of its own faction of PPP condemned the engineers who issued false statements and stated after 1939 river Kabul, Swat and Indus expected no flood. He alleged engineers had issued statement on the behest of federal government as it wanted to pave the way for Kalabagh Dam. Hoti added had the engineers not issued false statement there would be no construction on the river banks on such large scale that have been badly suffered due to flood in the rivers.
Hoti also demanded of the chief election commissioner to hold local government elections in the flood-hit districts in second phase of the election schedule. He said the people of affected areas were facing difficulties and engaged with the relief services.
Coming hard on Durrani-led government, Hoti said on one hand the provincial government was claiming for an ideal province about law and order situation while on the other hand people were killed in daylight at bazaars in the presence of security personnel.
