Jatoi says no loadshedding in country

The Minister for Water and Power, Liaquat Ali Jatoi has said that there is no load shedding in any part of the country and we have 1500 MW extra power at present. He stated this while addressing a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Water and Power held here on Saturday. Jatoi also directed the concerned authorities of Wapda to redress problems pointed out by the respected members of standing committee at the earliest.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Sardar Saleem Jan Khan Mazari. Chairman Wapda Tariq Hamid, addressing on this occasion gave a detailed briefing on load of bigger consumers to impose on smaller consumers in shape of line losses and to subsidise the bigger consumers and maintain a load shedding schedule. He added that it is incorrect to say that the load of bigger consumers is passed on to smaller consumers in order to reduce line losses. Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council Dr Akram Sheikh also gave briefing to the committee members.
The committee constituted a sub-committee comprising Dewan Syed Jaffar Hussain Bokhari MNA, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah MNA, Dr Abdul Kadir Khanzada MNA and Syed Zafar Ali Shah MNA. The sub-committee has been entrusted with the task to finalise its recommendations on Pakistan Engineering Council keeping in view of suggestions made by the standing committee in its last meeting and finalise its recommendations within one month.
The members of the committee Syed Muhammad Asghar Shah, Chaudhry Mehdi Hassan Bhatti, Dewan Syed Jaffar Hussain Bokhari, Mian Mumtaz Ahmed Matiana, Sahibzada Muhammad Mahboob Sultan, Muhammad Safdar Shakir, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Abdul Rauf Mengal, Maulana Muhammad Qasim and Mian Muhammad Aslam attended the meeting.
Secretary Water and Power Ashfaq Mahmood, Special Secretary Water and Power Riaz Ahmed Khan, Chairman PEC Dr Akram Sheikh, Chairman Wapda Tariq Hamid and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
