Body to ensure yarn availability to power-looms

The Textile Ministry has set up a committee on availability of yarn to the power-loom sector. The committee headed by the Textile Ministry secretary has five members from the private sector.
The five private sector members included All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) chairman; Power-Loom Association, Faisalabad chairman; Sooter Mandi, Faisalabad chairman; Muhammad Naqi Bari, Chairman Industries Committee, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mian Mukhtar Ahmad, Member, All Pakistan Textile Exporters Association, Faisalabad.
The commissioner, Textile Commissioner Organisation, Karachi, will be the member and secretary of the committee. The main objective of the committee is to ensure availability of yarn in the local market.
It will ensure insertion of label, trademark and specification on each cone and cotton bag and would also ensure weight consistency and standard moisture contents. The committee has been constituted under a notification issued by the ministry in Islamabad on June 10 on the availability of yarn to the power-loom sector.
