Hungary would consider an offer to store surplus grain near a sea port in another European country because of overflowing silos at home, the Agriculture and Rural Development Office (MVH) said on Monday. Romania's ANCER grain wholesalers association said on Friday the Balkan country could offer up to 2.0 million tonnes of intervention storage to landlocked European Union newcomers with big cereal surpluses.
Hungary has received no formal offer of storage in Romania, but would consider paying for silo space near Romania's Constanta port, Slovenia's Koper, Germany's Hamburg or Rotterdam in the Netherlands, MVH Intervention Director Laszlo Rieger told Reuters.
